Update re the ongoing closure of footpaths 111/7/2 & 112/52/4

June 08th 2025

Following the statement given below by Cornwall Council in regard to the further 12 month closure of these footpaths, at the recent St Erth Parish Council meeting on 3rd June Councillors expressed their extreme disappointment that the closure has been extended yet again, and will be raising the community’s concerns regarding this closure as a matter of urgency with the new portfolio holder responsible for Public Rights of Way, Loic Rich.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹:

We understand that the closure of footpaths 111/7/2 & 112/52/4 at Carbis Mill remains a priority for your parishioners, unfortunately however the footpath is still not safe to reopen. We have defended our position to ask for a further temporary closure, rather than a permanent closure.

This approach means we can use the period of closure (a further 12 months to June 2026) to implement a sustainable solution. Though, as always, we do emphasise that there needs to be alignment between the various parties involved.

Overall, the green bank repairs have created an improvement, but not a full solution. This was as hoped for, though the timeframe to be at the point to move forward was always hard to estimate, with the need to be able to observe and monitor progress through the seasons.
