St Erth Parish Council is delighted to confirm that Cornwall Council has reopened footpath 112/52/4 at Carbis Mill. This means the full walking route between St Erth and Relubbus, via footpaths 111/7/2 and 112/52/4, is now accessible again, although please be mindful that some sections of the route are narrow.
The Parish Council has been lobbying for this outcome since the original closure, and we would like to thank all residents and visitors who supported the process through petitions and correspondence.
Please be aware that a short section of the path beyond Carbis Mill still requires further work. Cormac will be undertaking these improvements over the coming months, and the Countryside Team will continue to monitor the route to ensure it remains safe for all users.
We kindly ask everyone to help protect the riverbank by keeping to the designated path, not walking right on the edge of the riverbank, and ensuring dogs only enter and exit the river at clear dog access points (such as the steps installed on the first section of the river on the corner just before the Nature Park steps). Allowing dogs to scramble up the bank elsewhere causes erosion, which threatens the long‑term viability of the path. While some erosion is due to natural changes in the river, a significant amount has resulted from human and dog activity, so your cooperation is essential.
Finally, please respect neighbouring landowners by remaining on the riverside footpath and not straying onto private land.
Thank you for helping us to keep this much‑loved route open and safe for everyone.
