The Parish Council is delighted to announce that is has been successful in its bid to secure funding and that this project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills. For more information, visit https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-shared-prosperity-fund-prospectus.

This project is an exciting opportunity to regenerate a section of the riverside walk along the River Hayle between St Erth Bridge and Trewinnard Bridge, whilst at the same time opening up community access to adjacent scrubland.

The project’s objectives will be achieved by:

  • revitalising a much loved and well used footpath by carrying out green bank repairs to reinforce the riverbank and widening the footpath in certain locations to help ensure safe public access and reduce erosion;
  • training community volunteers to act as river wardens who can keep up the soft bank repairs each year, empowering the community and ensuring long term impact;
  • creating a new amenity for the community, by enabling public access to areas of scrubland which runs parallel with the footpath, creating an accessible walking and jogging route, and broadening and improving natural habitats.

In order to provide baseline evidence prior to the project commencing, we would be grateful if you could please take a couple of minutes to complete a simple online survey by clicking on the following link: https://forms.gle/1wFAjSjoqiBmMUw56.
