Thefts from vans in Hayle – CR-021154-18

We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward in connection with reports of thefts from vans in the Hayle area recently.
A Ford Transit van parked in Bodriggy Court, Sea Lane Copperhouse, Hayle was entered by unknown means, tools were stolen. This took place between 9:10 and 9:30pm on Sunday 11 March 2018.
An Iveco van parked in Melyn Close, Loggans, Hayle was entered by a lock being forced, tools were stolen. This took place sometime between 7:30pm Sunday 11 and 7:30am Monday 12 March 2018. A
Ford Transit van also parked in Melyn Close had a lock tampered with and a Peugeot Partner van parked in Caroline Row, Hayle had a lock tampered with.
Please can all van owners consider extra security:
Please remove all tools if possible
Consider additional external locks
Alarm your vehicle if there isn’t one already fitted
Consider an internal lockable cage/tool box
Ensure all tools are permanently property marked with name and postcode and use appropriate signage warning thieves that all tools are removed from the vehicle, or similar
Keep a copy of serial numbers and take photographs of tools
Park in a well-lit area with doors close to a building etc to make access more difficult
Consider installing CCTV
Remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to police-999 if suspects in the area.
