St Erth Vintage Bike Ride Saturday 31st August 2019

August 08th 2019

The St Erth vintage a bicycle ride will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, 31 August 2019 from 1330

A thoroughly jolly good day is to be had by one and all with a leisurely 4 1/2 mile ride, taking in the pleasures and surroundings of St Erth village and the riverbank, after which we will make our way towards Hayle with a short stop at the ‘Bird in Hand” in to wet the whistle.

From the Bird in Hand  we route through Hayle  via the historically industrious Foundary Hill and Lane, returning to St Erth via the causeway cycle path and Water Lane

Event route map can be found here http://goo.gl/maps/Cthvl

We strongly encourage the use of vintage attire and bicycles for all Ages  (although this is not compulsory) and after the event we will be awarding the prestigious ‘Golden Pedals trophies’ (kindly created by our sponsors)  for the following classes:

Best Gentleman
Best Lady
Best Junior
Best custom bike

Event registration (signing of a boring legal ‘mumbo-jumbo’ waiver) for all participants will be held at the Old School  Rooms (next to the church) St Erth  from 14:00 hours the entrance fee is £3 per adult rider and £1.50 per child.

The St Erth  vintage bicycle ride will commence at approximately 15:00 hours (hopefully earlier pending completion of registration) with all riders returning to the Star Inn at approximately 17:00 hours, shortly after we will be  class judging and awarding of the prestigious GOLDEN pedals Yrophies’.

Please note those participating with young children are recommended to onlyride the  shorter 1/2 loop from the old school room to Green Lane then  on to the riverbank and  back to the old school rooms, this  ride is approximately 30 minutes and without incline other parents/guardians must exercise extreme caution while riding along the river bank to avoid any unplanned  watery interactions,  the main group will then proceed to Hayle and should be returning between approximately 1 1/2 hours later around 17:00 hours.

At the Old School  Rooms we will host a bar with home-cooked food from approximately 17:00 hours and live music, so a great opportunity to admire the  selection of vintage bicycles and attire whilst wetting  the whistle and swapping stories  of the days heroic engurance  ride.

If the weather is forecast to be rather inclement  then the ride will be cancelled so please check back or call on the day.
