This week, the Plan reached another major milestone in its journey to becoming planning policy with its formal submission to Cornwall Council.
The Plan will now undergo a ten weeks period of legal compliance checks and further consultation by Cornwall Council before it is referred to an independent examiner for scrutiny.
When the examiner is happy with the Plan, Cornwall Council will then organise a referendum at which all residents in St Erth, who are registered to vote, will have the final say on whether or not the plan should be adopted and more information of this will be provided nearer the time.
Chairman of the Steering Group, Councillor Ted Taylor, expressed his gratitude for all of the work undertaken by the community representatives and Councillor Group Leads over many months to arrive at this important point. He commented that ” the Plan is the most important document in St Erth’s recent history because it reflects the wishes expressed by the community about how they want to see St Erth develop sensitively and still protect the natural environment at the same time over the next 15 years.”
