We have been advised by South West Water that their Waste Water ( sewage ) Treatment Works at St.Erth, that the mixer has failed that allows a odour controlling chemical to be mixed with the sludge to reduce odours. Without the mixer and chemical the sludge process has become more odorous.
This should have been repaired by the end of today 3rd May, unfortunately SWW were unable to effect a repair on the mixer, therefore it is possible that residents may experience some odour over the next few days until a new odour reduction system is delivered to site and installed this coming Wednesday.
SWW apologies for any inconvenience this may cause residents. I have advised our call centre of the above developments should residents wish to log odour complaints with the company.
UPDATE: 7th May
The new chemical dosing unit was delivered to site today, however it has transpired it will need two days of electrical work to connect it up and make it operational. This work will start on Monday 12th.
I apologise for this unforeseen delay in resolving the odour issues.
