Cornwall Council has notified St Erth Parish Council that a hole has opened up in the verge above Bosworgy Bridge, near Relubbus. The bridge is located along the C0163 Gurlyn Hill – Bosworgy Road, between Relubbus and St Erth.
The bridge was inspected and was found to have collapsed due to scour of the abutment walls which support the granite deck beams. The extent of the collapse extends beneath the carriageway by a distance of up to 2m.
As a result, an emergency road closure has been established and a diversionary route signposted.
The road is likely to remain closed at this location for several weeks whilst CORMAC Solutions Ltd design and construct a new structure at this location.
