Following the Local Government Elections held on 2 May, 2013, it is necessary for the Parish Council to fill two vacancies by co-option, as provided for by Rule 8 of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) Rules 1986.
The Parish Council may co-opt, as a member, any person who is legally qualified to hold such office and who is willing to serve, provided he or she satisfies at least one of the following qualification categories:-
(a) is registered as a local government elector for the parish;
(b) has, during the whole of the preceding twelve months occupied as owner or tenant, any land or premises in the parish;
(c) his/her principal or only place of work during the preceding twelve months has been in the parish;
(d) had during the whole of the preceding twelve months resided in the parish or within 4.8 km thereof.
Any person, who is willing to serve as a Councillor for the Parish of St Erth and who satisfies at least one of the qualification categories listed above should:
1. Write to or email the Clerk to the Parish Council, at either address below, by 5pm on Friday 21 June, 2013
giving the reasons why they would like to be considered; and note that:
2. The Parish Council has expressed the wish to meet all candidates individually to discuss their
interest, following which the Parish Council will decide which candidates it considers to be most
appropriate to fill the vacancies – and for that purpose;
3. The Parish Council will hold a Co-Option meeting, to meet the candidates, on 2 July, 2013.
